Gojek, through its startup accelerator program Gojek Xcelerate selected 11 local startups to be given training and guidance through business challenges during the pandemic. Bartega, Trope, Rollover Reaction, Pura, Getgo, Watt, Elio, Mena Indonesia, Jejak.in, Kerokoo, and Sare are selected in this fourth batch of Gojek Xcelerate which focuses on Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) model.
Gojek Xcelerate was first launched in September 2019, and so far it has fostered 35 startups from Indonesia and the Asia Pacific region.
The purpose for choosing D2C theme is to help participating startups compete with brands that already have big names. Moreover, seeing the current pandemic conditions, Gojek wants to help them to be able to develop their business so they can still reach their consumers.
The 11 startups introduced their products and were met with investors and global partners such as McKinsey & Co., Google, and UBS. They will receive trainings on growth-hacking methods and impactful data science from Gojek, material on startup business development strategies from Google Founder's Lab, valuation principles from UBS bank, and mentorship sessions with management consultant McKinsey.
Previously, Gojek Xcelerate's first batch focused on "Machine Learning" and graduated five startups in the country. The second batch "Women Founders" graduated ten startups from Asia Pacific led by women, and the third batch "Daily Consumer Innovation" graduated nine local startups.
