The Macallan Launches New Pack Design with an Anti-refill Enclosure and Anti-counterfeit Technology

The Macallan recently unveiled a bold new look across its range of single malt whiskies at a dinner at Oso Ristorante, Plaza Indonesia. The newest and revamped pack design from The Macallan is not just about looking good; it’s also completed by an anti-refill enclosure and anti-counterfeit technology, designed to put consumers first and guard Macallan’s whisky quality. The newest design will be available in November for the Indonesian market.

“The new designs completed with anti-counterfeit and anti-refill technology represent and maintain the quality of The Macallan. It is unfortunate but counterfeiting and bottle refilling practices do go on in the whisky world. With this new technology, we want to make sure that our fans are confident that if it says The Macallan on the label, it’s The Macallans in the bottle,” Agus Budi, Chief Representative of Edrington Singapore – Indonesia says in a press release.

The redesign comes as The Macallan, following feedback from customers and consumers, refines its portfolio to showcase a whisky for every occasion. Taking inspiration from The Macallan Rare Cask and Rare Cask Black packaging, the new bottle design is broad-shouldered, with a distinctive chevron cut into the bottle as it tapers toward the neck.

At the core of the portfolio is The Macallan Trilogy; three 12 years old whiskies each born from extraordinary oak casks, all showcasing the skill and craft of the Master Whisky Maker with a single malt perfect for every occasion. The Fine Oak range – launched in 2004 and matured using ex-bourbon casks as well as American and European Sherry-seasoned casks – will be renamed Triple Cask Matured. This renaming brings it in line with Sherry Oak and Double Cask.

“We want to make it easy for our fans to select a whisky that’s right for them. What could be simpler than one, two, or three cask types? By consolidating our core range to Sherry Oak, Double Cask and Triple Cask Matured we’re able to highlight the variety of whisky coming out of our distillery and to encourage new and existing fans to try The Macallan across a variety of occasions,” Glen Gribbon, Marketing Director at The Macallan says.
