The Scotch whiskey brand has gone through many challenging times in the past two centuries, like the World War I followed by the Spanish Flu Pandemic and the Great Depression, yet it managed to walk out and became the brand that sells more than 19 million cases annually, enjoyed by people in over 180 countries.
To celebrate the occasion Johnnie Walker launched super-premium limited edition bottles; namely Johnnie Walker Blue Label 200th Anniversary Limited Edition Design, Johnnie Walker Blue Label Legendary Eight Limited Edition Whiskey, and John Walker and Sons Celebratory Blend Limited Edition Scotch Whiskey.
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label 200th Anniversary Limited Edition Design beautifully illustrates the journey of the brand. The bottle is etched with illustrations of some of the great cities and countries that have played part of the story since 1820 when John Walker opened his grocery store in the Scottish burgh of Kilmarnock in East Ayrshire to become the world’s number one Scotch whisky brand.
The Johnnie Walker Blue Label Legendary Eight is an outstanding blend made of hand-selected whiskies from eight legendary distilleries that all existed in 1820, including rare expressions from long-closed 'ghost distilleries'. This smooth, mellow Scotch celebrates the extraordinary whiskies, which continue to inspire Johnnie Walker today.
Meanwhile, the vintage-looking John Walker & Sons Celebratory Blend pays homage to the brand's first commercial blend. A pioneering Scotch that took Johnnie Walker from Scotland to the four corners of the world, the Celebratory Blend is an authentic reimagining of Old Highland Whisky which launched in the 1860s.
The brand also celebrates the anniversary with a special 200th Limited Edition Design for a limited time period. “We’re letting our icons off the leash with a fashion-inspired, limited edition design, creating bold new bottle and pack designs for our most iconic whiskies - Johnnie Walker Black Label, Red Label, and Gold Label Reserve. The timeless whiskies inside the bottles remain unchanged,” says Dannies Hendrato, Marketing Manager for Whisky Portfolio of Diageo in Indonesia.
