Indonesia Whisky Research Society recently held the world’s biggest whisky event yet, Whisky Live Jakarta on 3rd – 4th November 2018 at the Bali Room, Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta. The annual whisky appreciation has sold more than 2000 tickets including the sold-out VIP tickets, for its first event. Bringing more than exclusive tastings and masterclasses, the event includes unlimited tastings of over 120 whiskies, special cocktails crafted by the best bars in Southeast Asia, art exhibitions, and a VIP lounge.
“Making its mark in Indonesia for the first time, we hope to bring the ultimate whisky event by becoming the platform for guests to learn about whisky and for the best brands to showcase their products,” Andrew Soetiono, CEO of Whisky Live Jakarta and Indonesia Whisky Research Society says in a press release.
“We also want to educate the market that whisky itself is a form of art, that should be savor responsibly. We also create the greatest pairing with good food and brilliant art, in hoping to bring forth a complete immersive experience.” He adds.
Indonesia Whisky Research Society, established since 2016, is the organizer of Whisky Live in Jakarta, which is also the biggest Whisky and Spirit show in Indonesia. Whisky Live Jakarta teamed up with 17 of the finest whisky brands to serve more than 120 spirit samples. There are unlimited tasting samples are from some of the most well-known single malts such as The Macallan, Singleton, and The Glenrodnach, there also selected Japanese whiskies will also be available at the vip bar. For those who are keen to learn more about the “water of life”, Whisky Live also set up masterclasses led by international whisky experts.
A celebration of good food also added to the festivity. A whisky pairing dinner by Oku, one of the best Japanese restaurants in Jakarta prepared to impress guests. Specially crafted cocktails and food from winners of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, such as Union, Basque, Jigger and Pony, and Wishbone will also be the highlight of the event.
Representing the diversity of Indonesia-, Whisky Live Jakarta collaborated with Indonesian Luxury to showcase art in two ways during this event, through an exhibition of paintings and sculpture, curated by ISA Art Advisory and there will a be a display of eight limited edition whisky bottles, curated by Vivi Yip Art Room that have been custom designed by local artists for this particular event. These limited-edition whisky bottles will be auctioned by Deborah Iskandar, the Founder of Indonesian Luxury. Proceeds from the auction will be donated to ‘The Learning Farm’, a foundation that teaches underprivileged youth organic farming.
